Build your IT department for the future.

Right now, many of us in the IT staffing and solutions business are focused on understanding new and emerging roles in IT. We're collectively asking ourselves:

How do we build our teams for the future?

We are seeing a clear trend in our client sites across companies of all sizes: They are hiring roles never hired before -- roles that serve and support the increased demand for AI, cybersecurity, cloud security, and data governance.

With emerging roles, like AI, we are all just scratching the surface with how to effectively build teams to support these fast moving trends.

From our 26+ years placing IT talent and teams on projects of all kinds, we know that sometimes what you need out of the gate is not what you need longterm.

As you solve for how to staff your project or department, we invite you to take advantage of our client advisory services.

We can assist on role definition, title, skillset, compensation ranges, and more. Our team of experts can help your internal HR team identify the best path to success -- whether it be fractional, contract-to-hire, or direct-hire.

Remember that flexibility is key with emerging roles, and we are here to help you build for the future.

Candidates: How will you navigate new IT skills in the market?

As a talented and motivated IT professional, you have probably asked yourself a few of these questions:

  • Will my current company allow opportunity to grow and learn?

  • Are we implementing any emerging technology here or do I have to make a job change?

  • How do I gain the skills needed in today’s (or tomorrow’s) job market to compete for those jobs?

  • What are the tech trends and how can I get ahead of that?

Here is what we're seeing.

Trending upwards right now are titles such as AI Developer, Machine Learning, Data Scientists, and then Cloud Engineering, Cloud Security, AI Security, and Data Governance.

According to HackerRank, 61% of Developers without learning opportunities plan to leave their current roles, rather than wait for their company to invest in them!  97% of developers are already using AI to increase output and efficiency.

Here is our advice:

  • Be strategic, embrace lifelong learning, set realistic goals, and don’t be afraid to ‘start small’ and dedicate time

  • Build a portfolio of your work/side projects, find a pilot project at work, you’d be surprised to find employers would be happy to have you volunteer

  • Find an ‘above and beyond’ mentality, and go ‘beyond your workday’ to learn

  • Join local user groups, find blogs or webinars of interest

  • On-line courses can be found on Coursera, edX, Udacity, Kaggle, fast.ai, and others

  • Tutorials, learn to code in Python in your own timeYoutube channels such as.. this one, this one, and this one.
